National Club 2012/13
Major
The National Club Major team was been drawn away in the first round to London League rivals Athenaeum who eliminated the club from the competition last season. The full draw is:
Maidstone v Farnham
Bourne End v Gloucester
Bishop’s Stortford v Bedford
Hackney v Ilford
Metropolitan v Wood Green
Athenaeum v Wanstead & Woodford
Byes: Tunbridge Wells, Bushbury
In the event, Athenaeum conceded home advantage,and the match was played at in the Roding Room at Wanstead House on 5 January. However, Wanstead again came off second best, losing 2 – 3. Click here for David Smith’s report.
In the Plate Wanstead were home to Maidstone in the quarter final on 3 March but lost on board count.
Intermediate
The draw for the first round of the National Club Intermediate saw Wanstead playing away, not for the first time, to Cosham which is one of David Smith’s former clubs. The full draw was:

Hackney v Maidstone
The Cosham match was be played on 27 January 2013, and saw the club come through by 3 -1.

With five winners in the first round, Wanstead played Maidstone at home in a mezzanine round on 10 March to arrive at four semi-finalists. For the second weekend running, Maidstone won on board count at Wanstead House.
